We keep the little we need to introduce her to a companion and to make her book. Her calls are recorded — but only after she has said yes, and she can ask us to stop at any moment, on any call. We have never sold anyone's information and never will. Ask us to delete everything and we will, and we'll tell you when it's done.
Your name, email address and phone number, so we can reach you. Your payment is handled by Stripe — we never see or store your card number.
Her first name and how she likes to be called, her phone number, the times of day that suit her, and anything you choose to tell us that helps her companion arrive as a friend rather than a stranger — that she knits, that she lost her husband last spring, a subject to steer around.
Recordings of the calls, and her companion's notes. This is how a year of conversations becomes a book in her own words and her own voice. It is the only reason we record.
We count visits using analytics we host ourselves, on our own server. It sets no cookies, follows nobody across the internet, and gathers nothing that could identify you. That is also why this site shows you no cookie banner — there is nothing to consent to.
Her companion asks for her permission on the very first call, in plain words, before anything else — and the asking is part of the recording, so there is always a record that she said yes.
If she says no, we don't record. She still gets her calls. If she says yes and changes her mind later — on the first call or the fiftieth — she only has to say so, and the recording stops. She never has to explain why.
She is always told she is speaking with a real person, and she is always told who that person is.
Her companion, and the small team who makes her book. Nobody else.
We do not sell information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to train anyone's artificial intelligence. If a court ever compelled us to hand something over, we would tell you, unless the law forbade us from doing so.
Two companies help us operate and can hold some of this information on our behalf: Stripe, which processes payments, and our own server, which we rent and control. That's the whole list.
Recordings and notes are kept while she is a member, so her book can be written from them. When the book is finished, or when the membership ends, we keep them for one more year in case the family wants another copy — and then we delete them.
You may ask us to delete everything sooner. We will, and we'll write to confirm it's done.
One email is enough. We answer within a few days, in plain language, from a real person.
Pearl is for adults. We don't knowingly collect anything about anyone under 18.
We'll email you before it does — not quietly update it and hope nobody notices.
A real person reads every message.
